Programme Overview
Description
The gripping first-hand accounts of how daughters survived and escaped years of sexual abuse by their fathers. They bravely tell their stories as adults and show how they’ve moved on from their dark past in order to create a hopeful future.
Through one-on-one interviews with the survivors, their fathers' web of lies unravel to reveal the pathetic men who failed to properly love and protect their own daughters. As the details of their atrocities are revealed, desperation increases: they need to be held accountable for their unspeakable crimes.
The documentary moves beyond the darkness of the past to focus on how these women are surviving in the traumatic aftermath. Each of them copes in a different way: raw conversations with loved ones, visiting the very place where the molestation occurred, becoming a star kickboxer, or starting a new family.
This documentary unflinchingly shows the damage that sexual abuse can have, but also shows the strength of survivors as they unify and liberate themselves from their traumatic past. In spite of the terrors they endured, they each choose a life of hope, trust, and love.
