Programme Overview
Description
Question Team is a comedy quiz show with a difference.
Richard Ayoade, the host, has invited three comedians to join his Question Team. They’ll compete against Richard, and one another in four unique quiz rounds. Every show is a one-of-a-kind experience; on Question Team the players write the questions, and the host plays along with the contestants.
Each guest takes turns stepping up and leading an original, creative round that reflects their own personality, humor, and interests. The games can be on any subject they like and take any form. The host has just one stipulation: all the questions must have proper answers, otherwise how can he pretend there’s a point to all this?
Every player hosts a round, apart from the host. When it comes time for his round, he is so lazy, he outsources his questioning presenting duties to a mystery member of the Question Team – a different special guest each week who comes out to host the final game on Richard’s behalf.
For example, stand-up Thanyia Moore poses her pop music questions, while skydiving then Kerry Godliman oversees a tent-based scavenger hunt and Rob Carter’s alter-ego Christopher Bliss joins in the fun at the end as Richard’s special guest.
Each round is worth five points – this keeps the scoring fair. It’s up to the guests to decide how these points are allocated: there could be three questions worth one point and a final one worth two, or points could be awarded based on how quickly the players complete a task. The host of each round reveals how each player has scored. After all four rounds have been played, the contestants and host could have scored a maximum of 15 points.
The final prize is not known to the host or the guests – the host opens an envelope and surprises everyone with its contents. Prizes on the UK version included the chance to name a zoo animal and an advert in a local newspaper celebrating the winner.
Who will win Question Team’s money-can't-buy mystery prize? The host or one of his guests?
