Programme Overview
Description
Messiah is a dinosaur in the modern world, a failed singer, and the owner of Messiah’s Inn, an out-of-the-way roadside restaurant in the middle of nowhere, Israel.
Much like Fawlty Towers, Messiah’s Inn is a dysfunctional business under constant threat of closure, where its workers are forced to march to the drumbeat of their unpredictable boss.
A childish man whose heart is in the right place, Messiah’s world is one of lost dreams and high aspirations. A one-hit-wonder stuck in his 80s moment of success, he's a time capsule to a bygone era inhabited by French onion soup, Benson & Hedges cigarettes, turquoise suits, and mullets.
In this situation comedy, we see a documentary crew following Messiah around as he desperately attempts to relaunch his music career and climb back to the top of the Israeli music industry.
This is a show about characters who live on the margins, who dream big and fail big time. But before anything else, Messiah is each and every one of us: in our secret ambitions to find success, and in our ability to fall, pick ourselves up, and keep on chasing our dreams.
